Footbag in the Media in Chile

Footbag has had some publicity in the media this week. Firstly, an English class with Chile’s top athletes was televised on two sports news programs (Vive Deportes and CDO), while Diario del Futbol ran a profile about Footbag.

In a football obsessed continent, the Diario del Futbol looks to promote both smaller competitions and clubs, as well as sports that are associated with football.

Appearing in this publication is a great chance to get some further publicity for the sport. The link to the interview is in Spanish, but you can find some more information about the Footbag and English programs, which Flying Clipper has donated 100 footbags toward, in an article at English language publication I Love Chile.

The video below shows a different angle on sports and education, with footbag on display outside of the controversial Universidad del Mar. The university has been closed down by the Chilean government after a long running corruption case.

Students have taken matters into their own hands, taking over the university. Protests for education in Chile have made headlines over the past years and with an election coming up in 2013, the students will be sure to return to the streets this year.

Flying Clipper has recently sent 24 juggle balls (11 Phat Tyre, 13 Phat Tyre Speeders) to Alex Barron of the UK. Alex is a world class numbers
juggler who has qualified 11 balls. Here is a link to a video of Alex juggling 11 balls:

Flying Clipper sought him out to test our new numbers juggling balls the Phat Tyre 12 and Phat Tyre Speeder. If you have not heard, Phat
Tyre juggle balls employ a unique blend of filler material consisting of recycled tire rubber and stainless steel pellets for filler material and are
not only 100% handmade but also machine washable.

Flying Clipper is obviously anxious to hear back from Alex and get his response and we will pass his feedback on to our fans when we receive
it!

Our motto here is “When jugglers talk, Flying Clipper listens!”

This is a repost from the Official IFPA Announcements list. We love and support the Footbag Hall of Fame and some of our favorite people are inductees. We figured we’d keep our friends and fans posted on events happening with the Footbag Hall of Fame here at our blog, so we created a new blog category for it today.

To Footbag players, their families, and their fans,

The Footbag Hall of Fame Historical Society (http://www.footbag.org/hof) is
pleased to announce that the 2013 Footbag Hall of Fame nomination process
began January 21st, 2013 and ends March 31, 2013, so please think about who
you believe should be nominated and submit your nomination by going to the
nomination form which can be found on the two forum pages or at the bottom
of the Hof page, at the following link. (http://www.footbag.org/hof). The
forums will show who has already been nominated and their testimonies, so if
you want to support an existing nomination, then we ask that you go to the
nomination form and write your support there as well as on the forums.

The criteria for these nominations and induction to the Hall of Fame is
located here:

We like reposting the IFPA announcements for our fans who digest through Facebook and Twitter and don’t get a chance to get all the updates they send out via email.

We figure the more the merrier when it comes to spreading the word on footbag events around the world, so today we’re adding a new category to our blog for European Events. We’ll likely be adding more categories for other regions as other events come up as well, such as in South America where Flying Clipper is sponsoring footbag development similar to our work in Africa.

Now, for the event details!

As we mentioned briefly in a previous post, we just sent 100 footbags to Daniel Boyle in Chile! He’s doing work with children in schools to help them learn English using Footbag. Lots of kids just have too much energy in class, and he’s found a way to use sports to teach subjects like English. He’s trying hard to get his program off the ground, and we’re helping him out with some free bags and access to our platform to write about his experiences.

Daniel is a professional writer and has agreed to send us occasional updates for the blog and even some video content to share with our awesome fans — that’s you!! We’re super excited about this partnership, and we can’t wait for our bags to clear Chilean customs and start getting distributed!

Be sure to stay tuned here at the Flying Clipper blog and at our Twitter Page and Facebook for updates on how Daniel is doing and where his new bags ended up!

You can also follow Daniel on Twitter in case you just can’t wait to hear what he is up to :)

Daniel’s journey to Chile | Bega District News.

This is a ReBlog from the Bega District News website, a south-eastern newspaper in Australia.

Recently Flying Clipper has partnered with Daniel Boyle in his footbag adventures in South America. Similar to our work in Africa, we love partnering with inspired individuals that want to make a difference in the world using footbag as a medium. Daniel is one such individual, with a gift for writing, footbag, and much more.

We’re supporting him with 100 footbags to give out and use for his educational programs in Chile. We’re expecting to have coverage of how this goes coming here at our blog as we get updates from Daniel, so stay tuned here for fun videos and articles about what he’s up to with the Flying Clipper footbags we sent him :)

Be sure to click through for the original article. It has a great picture of Daniel and some kids he plays footbag with and more information about what he is doing in South America and what it has to do with students and footbag.
