To quote a famous songwriter…What a long strange trip its been! :=) After 31 years of designing and producing our own original designed hand sewn footbags and juggle balls, we can honestly say something that not many in the business can… we have blazed our own trail and followed no one in what we created. At first selling one or two footbags down at the Eugene Saturday Market meant we could order pizza that night. After a few years we started getting more and more business and eventually employed up to 10 local sewers not including the partners of Reed Gray, Dennis Ross and Jim Fitzgerald who combined hand sewed more than 100,000 footbags and juggle balls in our “made in Oregon” phase of the business. In the late 1980′s and early 1990′s  Flying Clipper was producing thousands of handmade juggle balls for both Brian Dube and Klutz juggling, every one handmade in Eugene. Did you know that more handmade things come out of Eugene Oregon than any other city in the country? We were part of that movement.  Footbag and juggle ball sales were at full swing for our made in Oregon products. To be truthful I am a living example of someone who has given all to his craft. If I knew then what I know now, I would have stopped sewing much earlier than I did. I now suffer greatly with repetitive motion problems and arthritis in the shoulders and arms. Just ask another famous hand sewer of juggle balls, Fergie about that, I am sure he would agree. However because of the high cost of labor in today’s competitive market, Flying Clipper decided to go offshore to begin producing products under our strict standard for quality for the wholesale market. We still produced our made in Oregon products for craft shows such as the Oregon Country Fair which Flying Clipper is part of and has been part of since 1984. Flying Clipper can also say that our original designs are the most copied around the world. If you go to Wikipedia and search the term “footbag” you will see a Flying Clipper original patented  design offered as what a typical freestyle footbag looks like (the patent has run its course) . There is a good chance that Flying Clipper made THAT footbag!
Its great to be able to say that we are still putting out new products to meet an ever changing market. We can safely say that we are experts in how to design and produce handmade balls. I think we are changing peoples minds about handmade balls and the cross over between footbags and juggle balls is now becoming part of the culture with hands and feet jugglers such as the great Peter Irish and Jorden Moir who both enjoy using Flying Clipper products for their performances. It has been a long strange trip…but there is more yet to come. A big thanks to all of our long time supporters out there, you know who you are and we salute you!  Please join us in saying Happy birthday Flying Clipper!!!

Hats off to Bennett Santora and his juggling skills. He has found new juggle balls to accommodate his style of juggling and we are happy to announce he has chosen our Phat Tyre juggle balls for all of his performances. At only 9 years old we think that will be for a long, long time. Thanks Bennett for your support of the inventors here at Clipperville.

From the desk of Jim Fitzgerald President and co-founder of Flying Clipper, est. 1983:

Being a craftsman now for more than 30 years has given me ample time to think up new ideas for expanding the horizons in the art of juggle ball design and concept. Lets face it, after hand sewing more than 75,000  footbags and juggle balls one cannot but help to fall face first into some good ideas now and then. :=) Combining a second and arguably a more valuable asset which is listening to jugglers for their feedback has enabled Flying Clipper to thrive in the midst of a very crowded internet marketplace. Our innovation is driven on improving each juggle ball model according to the feedback we receive from our juggling friends.

If you have never seen our products let me tell you this: Every juggle ball or footbag we produce is made from our own designs. (many of  our designs  are the most copied in the industry). Every juggle ball we produce is 100% hand made and completely washable. We use recycled materials in many of our models in the form of the filler materials we use which include recycled plastic pellets, crushed rock and ground up recycled tire rubber. From our Tossaball Hybrid series of balls to our newest rubber filled Phat Tyre series, we make a juggle ball that is just right for all types of juggling. We welcome ideas and feedback from our friends and value all relationships that come our way. When you purchase a product from us, you are not only getting a great washable hand made juggle ball, you are also promoting the inventors and we thank you.

A great juggling bag development  A great juggling bag development

A great bag that works very well for me. just the right size for working on 5 or 6. Very soft on the hands but maintains that round look in the air due to the 14 panel design. surprisingly easy on the hands compared to all other props I have tried. Since the outside of the bag is soft some slight rub collisions can be recovered without losing a pattern completely. I strongly recommend this bag. Shawn S – Shawn S

 The reviews are in….

And it’s official! The Phat Tyre 32-Panel Juggling Ball is a huge hit with our loyal fans and new customers alike! This could be the most unique and best juggling prop we’ve ever created and our fans agree!

Best things I’ve thrown in the air yet!  Best things I've thrown in the air yet!

These are so much better than my old “learn to juggle” bean bags it’s silly. Having been stuck at 3 ball cascades for years, I’m already doing Mills Mess and 4 ball fountains fairly easily. They’re soft, don’t roll at all and are a joy to juggle. I can’t wait to get above 5 so I can order some more!

Phat speeder bags  Phat speeder bags

Love the size, weight, feel, and look of these bags, although they do have a slight Discount Tire store bouquet.

Just a couple of washes later and they smell fresh as daisies. I can barely put ‘em down, love ‘em…

Tossaball Plush Puppy, Flying Clipper’s new hand and feet juggle ball, is getting Rave Reviews.

Peter Irish, the master of juggling, is raving all about this:

“The Flying Clipper Plush Puppies are by far the best juggling balls on the market for hands and feet juggling. This is the ball I have been searching for for years. Once I got a hold of them, I immediately retired my old balls, and began using these full time. The require virtually no break-in, are a great consistency for stalls and body catches, yet they retain their roundness and don’t “pancake”. These balls are undoubtedly the best resource for any juggler who wants to integrate the hands and feet together in their juggling. The colors are some of the brightest and most beautiful of any juggling balls I’ve ever seen, which is so important for performing. I have used these balls in several shows and dozens of performances and have been completely satisfied. As well as all this, they are FUN to juggle, and have a feel like no other ball. I am grateful to Flying Clipper (and amazed) for creating a ball that exceeds my expectations for exactly what I do. I completely recommend these balls for any type of juggling, and especially for my specialty of juggling with the hands and the feet at the same time. Huge thanks to Flying Clipper!”

Here is another great review from another satisfied customer:

“OK, these beanbags are waaay nicer than I thought they would be! I broke my 5 ball endurance the first day I got them because they are so easy to juggle. I like the size and fabric because my hands do not get tired from grabbing them like a ball. They settle gently into my hand and have a beautiful throw. I got 4 rotations of 5 ball mills for the first time with these just yesterday. I’m getting more!”

Another great review of our new, customer-favorite juggling ball, the Phat Tyre 32 Panel:

Best Commercially Available Hybrids  Best Commercially Available Hybrids

The Tossaball Phat Tyres are the best commercially available beanbags for 4-limbed juggling on the planet. I’m not saying this lightly, because performing a combined footbag and juggling act is what I do for a living. I’ve tried all the others on the market and this comes out on top. Bravo, Jim! – Jorden

Let’s read a few other great reviews of this amazing juggling ball:

best kept secret in juggling  best kept secret in juggling

This is going to be the first review of this product that i will submit i got a set of seven in the mail today about three his ago and wow as soon as i held one in my hand i was captivated the weight is perfect they manage to keep there shape very well the feel of them is UN like anything I’ve ever juggled before the ultra suede feels heavenly in your hand and when you squeeze them a fist full of marshmallows comes to mind.
I have juggled more variations of juggling balls than care to remember and this is the first one that feels like it was made to be juggled, this is as of right now the best juggling ball I’ve ever touched.
After a few hours of juggling with these i am very pleased when you drop one it doesn’t roll away from you, every time the ball lands in your hand it feels extremely stable.
On to of all of this i can fit all seven balls in one hand then violently shake my hand around with out one of them flying away.
There will be another review soon once i log some real practice time with them but right now i would ofbeen happy if these balls were selling@$20 a peice knowing that these are only $14 a peice blows my mind!

All weather wonder balls  All weather wonder balls

I’m testing these at 113 Fahrenheit in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and they rock the casbah! My other props are suffering texture problems from the sweat, heat and humidity, but these invitingly soft Phat Tyre Tossaballs feel fab. I got my first Flying Clipper balls decades ago and they’re still whole and hearty. These new puppies arrived feeling like old friends and are surviving show after show after show. – Rhys Thomas

Best Bags EVER!  Best Bags EVER!

I have been juggling for 15 years, and have tried dozens of different juggling balls. When I picked one of these Phat Tyres the other day at my friends house, I got a huge, stupid grin on my face. Luckily he had three of these, and I was able to start juggling them right away. I was immediately struck by a few things. First was how nice they felt when they hit my hands, no matter how high I threw them, they always landed with a nice soft feel into my palm. Second was how much precision i had in my throws, especially as i started throwing them at the heights needed for 7 and 8 balls. I was able to place the balls right where I wanted them. None of the floppy feeling and erratic behavior that some bean bags have, and the weight is just right, it instantly reloads the muscles of your arms to throw them again. So I found out what these magical juggling bags were and ordered 9 of them. I got them in the mail yesterday, and have already gotten personal bests in 7 and 8 ball duration, as well as 4 and 5 ball Mills Mess, and back crosses. I have also been dabbling with footbag on and off for a few years, and was able for the fist time ever, to juggle 2 bags on one foot. I havent felt this excited about a juggling prop in 10 years. Do yourself a favor and get a set, your hands will thank you. – Tyler
